Journeyman Electrician

Job Role:

  • Support installation, modification, and repair for systems up to 480V, including MCCs, switchgear, disconnects, motor starters, drives, UPS, panelboards, and terminations to end users at upstream oil & gas sites
  • Applies best practices in routing cables and containment per NEC requirements, including incorporating area classification requirements
  • Support troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of electrical equipment onsite
  • Conduct regular inspections on all systems and report any potential issues, including recommendations for upgrades, repairs, maintenance, etc.
  • Ensure that all required records are maintained
  • Configure & calibrate systems according to site needs
  • Maintain reasonable supply of parts for emergency repairs
  • Supervise contractors where necessary ensuring proper workmanship including adherence to NEC requirements and best practices
  • Cross-train with Automation Technicians and provide support in their absence
  • Produce required documents and procedures related to the electrical systems
  • Write routine reports and correspondence

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Journeyman Electrician in oil & gas facilities
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license issued by the appropriate Texas regulatory agency
  • Certification for 5kV will be viewed favorably
  • Experienced or willing to train in using a hot stick to pull / changeout OHP fuses company owned service drop
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret the NEC Code Book
  • Proficient in applying lockout/tagout
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards
  • Experienced reading One Line Diagrams, wiring schematics, and area classification drawings
  • Experience with AC & DC motors & drives, panelboards, UPS, motor starters, switchgear up to 480V as a minimum
  • Experience with performing preventive maintenance tasks, taking corrective action for repairs, and be knowledgeable in electrical equipment installations

Notes:

  • Salaried position or Hourly position; 14-14 rotation; may have to respond to calls out of hours due to operational requirements
  • Work location: Field Office in Monahans and field locations near Barstow, TX
